Máire is annoyed by her inability to make the new interface do what she wants it to do, but is too tired to invest a little time to make permanent changes.

Oh, so you decided to skip the whole "but I eated it" issue? (says the person who saw an earlier version)(or did I imagine that?)
I decided not to try and translate element for element from English, because that would not be how someone... how did you put it... would approach it from an internal angle?
A child, or pet brain, as it were, would probably not have a problem with a verb like 'ith' which, as you also mentioned, is regular in the past tense.
I've been thinking of another catagoa element that might be fun, although I haven't seen any in English using the concept thus far. In the same way we can make some with "dofheicthe", I'm thinking it would be fun to do some with "briste" (as pets are wont to be naughty and break things).
This again would put us in the camp of participators in the phenomenon and would bump us out of the objective linguistic observer category... or should that be catagoary?
Well, as far as the observer/participant debate goes, I should confess that I spent a little time the other day searching for articles on child acquisition of Irish....
