Ireland selects 'Kings' for Oscars

"'Kings,' directed by Tom Collins and starring Colm Meaney, has been selected as Ireland's entry for best foreign-language film at next year's Academy Awards. It's believed to be the first time an Irish-language movie has been entered in the Oscar race."

So, if it is in Oscar contention, does that mean it will be viewable somewhere in this country? I mean, Toronto is a little far away.

Well, I hope so, an Irish-language movie might be just off-beat enough to get the attention of places like the Uptown/Lagoon, but I wonder if it might depend at all on whether the film makes it to the Oscars' short list. You'd think the folks at the International Film Festival would be all over it, if no one else. (And yeah, when the news first broke I briefly thought of checking the cost of flights to Toronto!)
